General tips
The US is a large, wealthy, and quite varied country. If you struggle to tell it apart from Canada, remember that US speed limit signs say 'SPEED LIMIT', whereas Canada's say 'MAXIMUM'. Street signs in the US tend to be metal more often than in Canada, where wood is prevalent. The US uses miles as distance measurements, which is only true in the US and the United Kingdom. Street signs are green more often than blue in the US, whereas blue is more common in Canada.Plates
The US has a wide variety of plates, with each state having its own design. Most are white with black text, and some sort of background graphic which is state-specific. Several states, mostly in the south and the mid-west, don't require a front plate.Road markings
