Mongolia's unique camera car with the camping equipment on top often makes it very easy to spot. The other car used, which has bars but no camping equipment, can complicate things. Mongolia is quite cold, dry, and very sparsely populated outside of Ulaanbaatar. The combination of bars and cyrillic text strongly indicates Mongolia or Kyrgyztan, but fortunately Mongolia's license plates don't have red strips on them, although they do sometimes have a small red graphic instead. Full-width white plates with black lettering. There's usually a red graphic on the left, but it should be less saturated through the blur than the Kyrgyzstan red strip is.
